THE LÜCHOW FAMILY

genealogical table #5 (Martin's branch)

The listing begins with Martin Witting (1690 - 1763), a retired corporal of the hanoveran army. His first apperance in 1724 is on occasion of his marriage with Dorothea Catharina Elisabeth Present in Dannenberg. The family moved about 1730 to the nearby town Hitzacker where Martin became burgher.

The most prominent descendant is Diedrich Christian Ludwig Witting (1759 - 1837), architect and highest-ranking offical in the building department for the royal court of Hanover. He was responsible for both public and private buildings and a specialist for road planning. As a prominent member of the royal court he had the privilege being buried inside the palace church (Schlosskirche Hannover). But his tomb can't be visited anymore - the church was bombed-out during world war II.

With all probability this family can be regarded as a branch from the Lüchow family. Connections to the Lüchow family seem without question (e. g. interfamiliar baptisms) however the precise relation remains to proved.
Today's research status prefers him to be another son of Heinrich Nikolaus Witting (1654 - 1695), see Lüchow famliy, first generations genealogical table.
